Crewe Gypsy site plans go in this week

Cheshire East Council will submit a planning application this week for a permanent Gypsy and Traveller camp on Parkers Road in Crewe.

The application will be made on Wednesday and a decision is expected in March. If approved, the council will create 10 pitches and an amenity block with washrooms, kitchen, dayroom and laundry.

In accordance with the planning process, there will be a period of consultation where residents will be able to write to the council expressing their views. Residents in the immediate locality, plus others who have written with comments in advance of the application, will be notified of its submission.

All existing comments made on the proposal will also be considered as part of the planning application process.

The council said it has received a petition from residents campaigning against the proposed site. The matter will be debated at the next meeting of full council on 23 February.

All comments on the application should be sent to: Development Management, PO Box 606, Municipal Buildings, Crewe, Cheshire, CW1 9HP. Or email planning@cheshireeast.gov.uk
